Why Choose Pilates By Physiotherapy

I hope you are all enjoying the wonderful summer weather. I am delighted to be teaching zoom from the garden again and Archie has shown he is growing up as he sat beside me for almost the whole class !

As we head towards Pilates By Physiotherapy’s 14 th birthday in September I have been reflecting on why clients chose to join our Pilates community. I feel our biggest strength is the breadth of knowledge and experience of our clinicans. Have you looked at the Staff profile page recently?

As a group of Physiotherapists working together we have a very broad understanding of normal movement and how we can influence movement in so many different ways. Our shared understanding of movement influences us all in our delivery of Pilates.

Beth has chosen to specialise in Pelvic Health enabling her to develop a deeper understanding of the pelvic floor, the role of the core and women’s Health. She has brought this understanding  into her teaching and sharing her knowledge influences each of us in our teaching.

Anna has chosen to specialise in Neurological Conditions. She works with clients with long term neurological conditions like Parkinsons and MS and also clients with spinal cord Injuries. Her experience and knowledge of how the body works when the nervous system is not working in the usual way gives us a different perspective on the effect Pilates exercises can have on our movement patterns.

With all the information that is now available to us online it is more important than ever to seek advice from a trusted professional to guide you in the management of your general aches and pains or acute injuries. Seeking the advice of the physiotherapist who watches you move in your Pilates class every week means the advice and treatment you receive will be tailored perfectly for you. Continuity of your care is something we all feel very privileged to be part of at Pilates By Physiotherapy. Monitoring your Pilates technique, seeing subtle changes over time enables us to develop our teaching skills and ensure you are getting the most out of your Pilates class. Please do get in touch if you feel you would like advice on the best ways to maintain or improve your level of activity or you are concerned about any ongoing movement issues you are having.

One of our longstanding Pilates clients completed the Durham City 10 km race last week in aid of St.Cuthbert’s Hospice. If you would like to sponsor Karen please follow the link below. Karen was delighted to be involved in raising funds for such a worthy cause

I hope you are all keeping well and keep up with your Pilates practice over the holiday period. Don't forget to use Zoom or the on line sessions if you miss your live session.

Anne, Karen, Rachel, Beth, Anna and Tricia.
