Memories of July Live on !

A huge Thank you to everyone involved in our Point North 38.7 miles in July Challenge. I have had a busy time learning about how your very generous donations are put to good use.

In September I attended the North East Charity Awards Dinner with Point North. It was a fantastic evening. A great opportunity to learn about many different charities nominated for the awards. There were 12 awards including Young Charity Champion of the Year, Small Charity of the Year, Uniquely North East, Rising Star and Outstanding Social Enterprise. The hard work, empathy, support and hope demonstrated in so many ways  was very humbling and uplifting all at once. Hearing about the very practical ways so many small charities help their communities has helped me feel confident that our fund raising efforts have been very worthwhile. From my perspective running, walking and cycling our 38.7 mile challenge was definitely the easy part of the process.

Following that evening I visited Foundation for Good, a charity in Consett that Point North has supported since it started about six years ago. It has grown from a boxing club into a Community Hub providing many services including Foodbank, Disability Physical Activity, Warm Space and Youth and Adult Wellbeing services. I’m looking forwards to other visits with Point North and will keep you updated with what I’m doing. Hopefully many of you will have already seen our story published in the Northern Echo (Online and In print ) and the Durham Advertiser. Having never had my picture in the newspaper before I am amazed we made it into actual print View on line via the link below !

Welcome for your achievement, Anne, and to all those who participated in the fundraising. It is very heartening to see how communities can come together to help those less fortunate.
