Pilates By Physiotherapy has been asked if we would like to participate in the Point North 38.7 miles in July Challenge. We would like to take this opportunity to encourage you all to be more active, get together with your Pilates classmates off your mat and raise awareness and funds for local charities as well as have some fun !

I think it is a very achievable challenge for us all to work together to increase our physical activity level, enjoy each other’s company and raise funds for great local causes.

Point North 38.7 -miles-in-july
The 38.7 represents the 38.7% of children growing up in poverty across County Durham and Tees Valley, the areas the charity I run works across. Many people question that, say it can't be possible but believe me, it is. The need we see and the stories we hear are grim. We always talk about fighting poverty and enriching lives, but to do that we have to raise money to support the small charities helping people. Last year we funded over 600 groups, 300 individuals and awarded £5.4m. Feeding families for example are one group we have funded. The reality is we then support the many charities they then give the food to so that the food actually gets to people that need it. Thanks,

We can work together in any size group to walk, run, swim or cycle. Your individual contribution can be tailored to exactly suit your level of fitness. So if you feel a short walk once a week or once in the month would suit you please do sign up to receive your FREE Point North T shirt.
To sign up as part of the Pilates By Physiotherapy team please use the following link
I know how some of you feel about computers so don’t worry you don’t have to sign up to join in as long as one person from your team signs up!! You don’t have to activate your funding page. You can record your miles on paper or electronically.
If you are looking for a bigger challenge perhaps a run / walk / cycle, which you have been meaning to do on a regular basis but just haven’t found the time this is your chance to sign up and have the support of some fellow Pilates pals to be active with.
The opportunities are huge, here are some suggestions
A group walk any size group / any distance/ any frequency a great chance for some fresh air, exercise, chat and maybe coffee after your Pilates class or a time that suits you.

We can add different groups together to achieve the 38.7 miles in July (each individual mileage counts so a group of 4 doing 2.5 miles weekly walk for 4 weeks = 4 x 2.5 x4 = 40 miles or a different 4 people could do it each week
Perhaps Walk to / from pilates once in the month / each week for July . We can help co ordinate transport in one direction if needed
Cycle / Run / Swim in any combination. For those of you who are keen cyclists maybe a 38.7 mile cycle on the last weekend of July ??
All ideas are very welcome, if you feel you can complete the challenge individually then let us know what you are doing and we will support you all we can.
You can gather sponsors or a personal donation to your team would be great (lots of small donations add together to make a difference)
I hope as many of you as possible will join us in this challenge in some way. I know from the classes and the Christmas meal that people enjoy meeting up outside the studio so please come and join us to raise funds and get fitter together for the month of July.
If you would like to get involved please mention it in your next class or drop us a message via wix
